Set in the small town of Devil’s Gate, North Dakota, the film examines the disappearance of a local woman and her young son. Schull plays an FBI agent who helps the local sheriff search for answers. Partnering with a deputy , they track down the missing woman’s husband and find that nothing is as it seems.
When a woman and her son mysteriously vanish, FBI agent Daria Francis (Amanda Schull) is dispatched to the small town of Devil’s Gate, North Dakota to investigate the number one suspect: religious fanatic Jackson Pritchard (Milo Ventimiglia), husband and father of the missing persons. But when Francis and local deputy Colt (Shawn Ashmore) arrive at Pritchard’s foreboding property, they discover much more than they bargained for lurking in the basement.
Specialist Francis and Deputy Salter initially meet with Theresa Locke (Sarah Constible: The Good Life 2007, The Haunting in Connecticut 2009), sister of the missing lady. We rapidly discover that Maria Pritchard (Bridget Regan: Agent Carter arrangement, Jane the Virgin arrangement) and her eight-year-old child Jonah (Spencer Drever: Fargo arrangement, The Confirmation 2016) have disappeared with no word at all of their whereabouts, leaving Theresa to report her sister’s suspicious vanishing to the specialists. Obviously, as is by and large the case in such a case, the fundamental suspect in their vanishing is the antisocial and distressed Jackson Pritchard (Milo Ventimiglia: Rocky Balboa 2006, This Is Us arrangement).
Choosing to go straight to her main suspect, Agent Francis and Deputy Salter make a beeline for the Pritchard residence to talk with Jackson. What they find is a strange, feeble bad dream of booby traps, temporary iron ladies, amassed weaponry, banished cellar entryways, a lovable German Shepherd named Earl, and one really insane person. The story that takes after flips itself topsy turvy and sideways, taking Devil’s Gate from the instance of two missing people into an area that is distinctly Science-Fiction.
