Oh My God Bollywood Movie Review

OMG Oh My God! is about something that touches every one of our lives – religion. It is a film about our association with God, how as opposed to being God-adoring, we have gotten to be God-dreading. How religion has turned into a business keep running by godmen (here relevantly alluded to as ‘sales people’) who aren’t actually extremely otherworldly by any stretch of the imagination. A note to skeptics and rationalists – the film is not an underwriting of those perspectives. It demands the presence of God.

Kanji Lalji Mehta, played by Paresh Rawal, is an affirmed nonbeliever who runs a collectibles shop. Kanji is a wily sales representative. He weaves stories around his products and offers 200-rupee symbols for thousands. The loyal are constantly prepared to pay. As Kanji puts it: “Shraddha ka kaam hai, jitna dalo, utna kum.”

One day, a quake wrecks Kanji’s shop. The insurance agency declines to pay, saying it was a demonstration of God. So Kanji, insubordinate, irate and relinquished by his family, goes to court and sues God.

The story is an adjustment of an extremely effective Gujarati play, which later turned into a hit in Hindi and Marathi as well. The first format is an Australian film called The Man Who Sued God. Unfortunately, here, a stupendous play makes for limp film.
