The Mask of Zorro Hollywood Movie Review
The original Zorro, Don Diego de la Vega, is captured and imprisoned just as Spain concedes California to Santa Anna. 20 years go by and his mortal enemy, Don Rafael Montero, returns to California with a plan to become wealthy at the expense of the peasants. The original Zorro escapes from prison and trains a new Zorro to take his place. Much swashbuckling and derring-do ensues.
Brilliant motion picture, outwardly rich and a decent mix of drama, activity and sentiment, elegantly composed. Hopkins is incredible; so is Banderas as Zorro-in-preparing, and Zeta-Jones shines in her scenes with him. Almost no gut or skin, what there is serves the plot as opposed to BEING the plot. The best motion picture I’ve found in quite a while. Note: reviews make it look significantly less intriguing than it really is- – you quite recently observe a considerable measure of things being cut and exploded, while the comic scenes amongst Hopkins and Banderas don’t generally show up (the best part of the film).
